BIG NEWS!!!
so i hope it is okay if i share some big non-baby news...i got first place in my division in my region for work for 2007! what the heck does that mean, you ask? well, that means that chris and i get to go on a 7 day 6 night trip to panama, all expenses paid plus a bit of spending money!! only six people in the whole region get to go and i am one of them!!!
and coincidentally, my dad and jillian both got second place in their respective areas and get to go on a 6 day 5 night trip to las vegas! so a big congratulations goes out to them as well!!
and for those of you who want some baby news...thalia had a ginormous poop today and instead of going up the back of her diaper like it usually does, it went up the front and got all over her belly and hips and even into her belly button! enjoy that visual!!!
CONGRATULATIONS DAD AND JILLIAN!! I AM REALLY PROUD OF YOU!!!

Updates and pics
well the past week has flown by (again!)!!! so much has happened! first, thalia went to her first mahoney show! she slept through her daddy's live performance but she is proud of him anyway! the music video was fantastic. the guy who did it is going to put it online sometime this week or next and as soon as i get the link, i will let you know. it turned out really professional and super funny! i'm really proud of the guys. they are really standing up for themselves with their booking guy and making sure they get everything they deserve. we'll see how it ends up...

anyway, back to all the goings on. so thalia saw her first mahoney show at 6 weeks old. now THAT is dedication! the guys played down in toledo on friday and grandma and grandpa were kind enough to babysit (twist their arm, right?!) so i could go. it was great to see them play and we brought a bunch of friends down with us. it was like old times...really fun.
saturday we went to visit friends in grand rapids. i didn't realize what a trip that would be! thalia survived her longest car ride of her life but she is now fighting with her car seat and screams every time we put her in there. hopefully that will wear off soon. it was really nice to get back out to gr though and spend time with friends. tiece and rob were kind enough to let us just hang out and relax at their house. unfortunately madisyn was asleep most of the time, but landon was awake and just in awe of the baby. tiece took some really cool pictures of the two of them. i am waiting for her to put them on her blog so i can steal them!
on the baby milestone front, thalia has gotten really good at grabbing on to small things, like hoodie strings and her pacifier bungy. the problem is that now she pulls her binky out all the time and then starts crying! its funny the first time...after that it gets old. speaking of funny, thalia is improving her smile every day. before she would just smile randomly. now you can almost always get her to smile by talking silly to her. she has made a couple people's days too by smiling at them when they talk to her. pretty cool. i'll put a pic below. she is almost laughing too. she gets really excited and almost claps her hands together and lets out this little kind of a sigh. it is too cute. i'll have to see if i can capture it on video or something.
other than that, i am enjoying my last few days of vacation before heading back to work. we have two people (plus grandma) to watch thalia periodically so that the guys can still practice. we are very lucky to have so much support from our family and friends. and speaking of family, yiayia and papou come back to town next week. we are all very excited. the crazy thing is that that means aunt nikki is about to graduate and get married! too crazy. time has flown!

whew!
what a week! we had so much fun hanging out with matt, regan and beautiful avery! the girls had fun too. it was nice getting to talk to someone that is literally going through the same thing you are going through...even being with a musician! it was sad to say goodbye to thalia's first play date but plans are in the works for another playdate - this time down in austin. how fun that will be! thalia is going to be one well-travelled baby by the end of this year!! albuquerque, austin, hawaii, maybe even san diego to see aunt nikki!...not to mention all the weddings she will be attending. guess she is the new social butterfly of the family!
things have been going pretty well since our company left. some days are tough when chris is gone all day and night. he and chris martin have been really busy with band stuff. they are playing a lot of shows and writing a lot of new songs. we are still working on getting their booking agent on the right track but things are looking up on that front too. i actually think that things will get better when i go back to work. i realize it is going to be tough and a new big adjustment, but at least i would be occupied during the day and not just sitting at home by myself. on the other hand, with the weather being nicer for a few days i was able to get out for a couple walks and thalia has been running errands with me. i am a pro at whipping out my stroller now - even one handed!
well that's all the ramblings for now. kristy is on her way over and we are going to the michigan theater for the premiere of mahoney's first music video!! mtv, here they come! i'll let you know how it goes...and i have some more pictures for you soon.

time for an update!
look at that! i managed to post more than one blog in a week! i think hell might be freezing over!! we have had a good/adventurous couple of days. chris and i decided to run some errands on monday and didn't think to pack the stroller, so we ended up having to carry thalia in her car seat all around kohl's and linens and things! what a mess. although in our defense, that was the longest errand run we had made with her. all the other ones were quick trips and the stroller would have been more of a nuisance. i guess the bright side is i got to work on building my strength back. then aunt jen and i went out last night - we donated some work clothes to dress for success, a charity that helps women re-enter (or enter, i guess) the workforce. every year they have a "send one suit" week when you can donate your suits or business casual attire at your local Dress Barn, instead of taking it to local dress for success office. the lady that took the clothes at dress barn was a snot though. very rude. oh well. jen and i still did our good deed for the day. then we headed back to kohl's to get something that chris and i had seen but wanted to look for at other stores. wouldn't you know it, there was a 80% off clearance rack of fantastic shirts. i ended up getting three shirts for myself and a wind breaker/spring jacket for chris for under $20!! not bad huh? jen got herself a couple shirts and got uncle walt a sweatshirt. such generosity we had yesterday!!! that trip to kohl's turned out to be more of an adventure than the trip with chris. WARNING: i am about to talk about nursing so if you are a boy and do not want to hear about breastfeeding, i would suggest skipping to the next paragraph. i'll let you know when it is safe! anyway, lately i have been having some issues with engorgement. go figure. i didn't get engorged at the 5 day mark like most women. oh no...i get engorged at the 5 WEEK mark!! the only thing i can figure is that she must be eating more at each feeding and the girls are trying to keep up by making more milk. well, anyway, it has been a pretty painful couple of days and wouldn't you know it, i thought i was going to explode at kohl's. luckily little thalia woke up just in time and i actually nursed her in the fitting room! i never once thought i would do something like that.
BOYS, IT IS SAFE TO READ NOW! well the adventure doesn't stop there. since my daughter is a phillips, after a big meal comes a big potty break. and of course being in public is no deterrent! so in the middle of nursing thalia she lets a HUGE poop go. and of course since i am at a store it is a huge messy disaster that i swear soaked through her clothes as it was coming out! well what is there to do but change her in the fitting room (it seemed the right thing to do after the other thing i did in the fitting room!) and of course she is just SCREAMING so that everyone in kohl's thinks i am a terrible mother and that i am torturing my child. and of course the poop went ALL the way up thalia's back. what a mess!! luckily i had a change of clothes for her in the diaper bag and my life-saver diane gave me these scented garbage bags that come in this cute rubb ducky dispenser so that you don't have to stink up wherever you are with a dirty diaper. well let me just remind you that there are no garbage cans in a fitting room so that poopy diaper went into the scented bag and back into the diaper bag. after that fiasco, thalia didn't want to go back in her car seat (she isn't much of a fan). so i end up carrying her around the store and jen and i load the stroller up with all of our crap! i can't believe it only took thalia 5 weeks to turn me into THAT mom who carries her baby around the mall and uses her stroller as a shopping cart!! ridiculous!!
well that's been our week so far! i have to run because matt, regan and their new baby daughter avery just got here. thalia's first play date!! i'll post pictures of the girls this week!
