big news

many of you already know this but for those of you that don't, i have some big news to share. i have accepted a year long rotation in the marketing department for one of the medicines i sell. unfortunately, the marketing department is in raleigh, north carolina. the plan is for me and thalia to move down to raleigh and for chris to follow sometime later this year. yes, i know that is shocking to some...but he has a lot in the air with the band right now. so he is going to focus on his music and trying to get the band's cd signed to a record label. he should know by christmas what is going to happen with it. then he will either be a rock star :o) or move down to nc with thalia and me. we think it is a win-win situation. i get to pursue my dream of being involved in marketing and he gets to pursue his dream of becoming a rock star. yes it is going to be hard for everyone to be apart but the company does provide two airline tickets a month that either i can use to fly back to michigan or chris can use to fly down to raleigh.

so the plan is for me to leave thursday morning and drive my car down, and for chris to fly down with thalia on friday. the company provides a furnished apartment for us to live in so hopefully we can move into it friday. i may have to wait until later the next week depending on availability. i am trying to work that out today. i also still have to find a day care for thalia since chris is going to stay in ypsi for a while and the one that i looked at that was "on campus" cost more than my house payment. (yikes!) so next week is going to be crazy...just like this week actually. but it is a fantastic opportunity for me...i am the only person in the country who will be doing this particular rotation.

please keep up in your prayers over this next week as we get ready to move thalia and me down to north carolina. we do have some family down there which will be very helpful and comforting. but it is definitely going to be a big adjustment. thanks for all your love and support!

labor day at hubbard lake

hello everyone! i hope you all enjoyed a long weekend. we spent the weekend up at hubbard lake and while this was thalia's second trip up to our cottage, it was her first time actually getting in the water or going out on the boat. here are some quick favorites from the trip...more to come! love you all!

oh my goodness!!!

so i have to share a super funny story with you...now, this started a little while ago when my mom was here in july visiting father jerry. when my mom fed thalia her cereal, she would say "mmmm" after she put the cereal in thalia's mouth. so thalia started mimicing yiayia and saying "mmm" too.
now we are trying to give her cereal twice a day. usually that means chris feeds her once and i feed her once. lately to get thalia to open her mouth, he'll say "ahhhhh" until she does it back to him. then after he puts the cereal in her mouth he'll say "mmmmm". well today i was feeding thalia her dinner and before i even could have the spoon ready she would make an "ahhh" sound!! and the cereal would hardly be in her mouth before she was making an "mmm" sound! then she thought she was pretty smart because she starting going "ahhmmmmm" all at once :o) she does it for every bite! and every once in a while it will be a super emphatic "MMMM"...i am laughing thinking about it!!
and even more funny is that she does the "mmm" sound when she takes her first bite of cereal which always makes her grimace! just imagine a grossed out face saying "mmmm"...it is hilarious!
i am going to try to see if i can get chris to get the whole thing on tape so you can laugh too...i'll keep you posted!

6 months already!!

can you believe my little baby is six months old already?! seriously, where does the time go? what a blast the past six months have been though. thalia has brought so much joy and happiness to this house and to our marriage. chris and i could not have asked for anything more. she is just so much fun!!

we are still working on the crawling thing...yesterday she started pushing herself backwards so she is getting the hang of pushing herself up and moving her legs...she just goes in the wrong direction. she'll get it soon enough.

we officially get to start feeding her more than just rice cereal...better buy stock in baby oxyclean! i'll be sure to send along lots of colorful pictures!

happy tuesday!

hello! i hope everyone is doing well! we have just been running all over the place lately! we have been getting to spend a lot of time with chris' family though, so that has been really great, for us and for thalia. on friday we went to the ypsilanti heritage festival with chris' family. kind of like the bluffton street fair but without the rides (obviously making it way less cool!). but there are elephant ears and these sweet "butterfly chips" which is basically a potato that is spiral cut super thin and they put sour cream and cheese and bacon bits on them. it is awesome! everyone sets up their little booths and tries to sell you stuff. we almost bought thalia this super cute tie-dyed sundress but it was $15. apparently great-grandma betty knew the lady whose tent it was so we were trying to get a discount, but to no avail! maybe next time. the baby did great walking around. i think just about everyone got a chance to hold her! she is so spoiled when it comes to snuggling.
i put together thalia's highchair on saturday. it looks awesome! chris and i have been feeding her her cereal in there and she looks so tiny!! i took a picture but i don't have it on my laptop so you will have to wait for that. but she does great in it. she is still working on her crawling. she can get her butt in the air but just buries her face in the ground. not too fun for her, pretty funny for us to watch. i think she is teething too because she is kind of fussy lately and she has never been really fussy. she hasn't been sleeping well at night lately either.
that's about it for now. i am working hard, chris is working hard, and thalia is getting cuter every day!

almost...

so thalia almost crawled today!!! chris has really been working with her lately on her mechanics and her form ;o) he'll lay on the floor and say "come here" and yesterday he held her belly up with his hand so she could get the idea. i didn't think it worked all that well, but then today after work we were playing on the ground and she was getting her knees up!! she couldn't figure out how to get her arms to move but she was pushing really hard with her legs. pretty soon i think she'll be moving all around.
