today is chris' and my third wedding anniversary!! (it's also chris' aunt susie and uncle mike's wedding anniversary! and bishop's birthday! what a busy day!! OH, and lest i forget, it is aunt steffi and barrett's three year dating anniversary - their first date was our wedding!) chris and i had quite the adventure today. we dropped thalia off with yiayia and father jerry, who is recovering from surgery, and chris and i went to stony creek metro park. we were going to go mountain biking on this off-road trail. we had just gotten chris a brand new bike over the weekend. well, we get to the park and chris notices, rather uncomfortably, that his seat isn't tight and keeps tilting backwards. he thought maybe he could deal with that, so he started riding his bike around the parking lot to get the feel of it and he went to switch gears and all of a sudden heard a "tink". would you believe the gear broke in half off the back wheel!!! how crazy is that?! so needless to say we didn't go mountain biking. but we did find a cool nature trail and hiked that. and we had a nice picnic lunch and stuck our feet in the lake. all in all, it was nice just being outside with each other and getting to chat and just spend some time together. then we got erma's on the way home - best frozen custard in town!
...my daughter is so funny! i put her to sleep just before sitting down to type this. and just now she started to fuss. so i went into the nursery and she is on her back grabbing her feet (her new favorite pasttime!) so i gave her her pacifier and she rolls onto her side and passes right out!! how funny is that!!
speaking of thalia, she is on quite a milestone roll! she is getting much better at sitting up on her own. usually she can stay upright by herself for quite some time, unless she is upset or reaches for something. she isn't crawling yet, but she is working on it. she can push her chest way up in the air now. and sometimes she gets her knees bent up. but she can't put that together yet. however, in the meantime she can spin herself in circles! if you put her on her back, she will roll onto her stomach and turn herself in a circle. it is so funny to watch!
thalia has been very lucky to get to spend a lot of time with her extended family this week. yiayia is in town for a week to help care for father jerry so we have some cute pics of her and thalia coming soon. on sunday we went to her great-godparents aunt lori and uncle bob's house for dinner. and thalia got to kick her feet in the pool! she loved splashing yiayia. pics of that adventure on their way too!! and today uncle mike and aunt susie are here playing wii for our anniversaries!! it is really nice having them back in town and right down the road! oh, and on saturday i got to meet up with two of my favorite girl - christy, who married her sweetheart jon earlier this year; and kristin, who had her own little bundle of joy, ethan, a couple months ago. yep, another boyfriend for thalia!
whew, i think it is an understatement to say we have been busy lately. but we are doing well and are in great spirits! pictures to come tomorrow or friday, i promise.

more big news!!!
this just in...aunt nikki found out that she passed both of her pharmacy exams!! YAY!! that means she is officially DOCTOR NIKKI REED!!!!

what a weekend!
whew, we have just been going, going, going!! on saturday alone, we helped aunt jen and uncle walt move into their new house, went to one wedding ceremony in ann arbor, and a different wedding reception in toledo! of course the baby looked beautiful in her dress and was apparently the talk of the reception. here are some pics from the toledo wedding...
other than the wedding, thalia is a pro at eating her cereal now! uncle barrett and aunt steph came over last week and uncle barrett got to feed thalia. he had fun - 
thalia has really been working on being able to sit up on her own... 
and in sitting up she discovered her feet...
and dad has been experimenting with new ways of holding her...
she doesn't seem to mind!

what a week!
as if rolling over wasn't enough excitement for one week, last week we gave thalia rice cereal for the first time...
as you can see, the little diva already likes to feed herself! it was quite the adventure. actually she can feed herself better than i can feed her. naturally, everything she grabs goes in her mouth...so when she reaches for the spoon, she opens her mouth and puts it in. when i try to bring the spoon to her mouth, she just kind of sucks the cereal off the spoon! we have given her cereal a few times in the past week and she seems to be getting the hang of it.
so thalia is 5 months old today! can you believe it! time flies! and i know that she is a little peanut but to me she is just huge!! i guess long would be a better word. she is starting to sit up on her own which is fun and really has been reaching and grabbing at things. like i mentioned earlier, most of these things end up in her mouth so we have to be on the lookout a little bit more. and she is still rolling over any time you put her down - another lookout situation!
things are going pretty well for chris and i too. work has been really crazy hectic for me but i think things will calm down a little bit for the rest of the summer. chris and the other chris are working with the new management company to get some things rolling for the band. they had CDs made and are selling them for $5 if anyone is interested. just let me know! they have a couple shows in chicago coming up that they are pretty excited about so hopefully those go well.

The BIG One!
I know, I know. You are dying for an update! Well, here it is. And let me tell you...it has been a crazy whirlwind since we went on our trip. Being gone for a week was hard enough! Then I came back to a four day work week that needed to include a day for new product training and a training presentation at a sales meeting! Not to mention getting packed to head up north! Yikes. My poor family - we had no food, no clean clothes! But things are starting to turn around and we did make it to the grocery store - more on that to come - and I did start to make a dent in the laundry situation. So now, on with the updates...
thalia updates
four month checkup
yes, you read that correctly. thalia is four months old! i can't believe it. but she definitely looks four months old. her four month hippo picture will be up shortly (hopefully before she turns 5 months!) so i had (another!) sales meeting on monday so chris took the baby to her appointment all by himself. thalia weighs just over 13lbs (50th percentile) and i am not sure how long she is but her length is in the 90th percentile for babies her age! i think that is super funny! although, she has always had a long torso because her onesies were always kinda short on her. anyway, she got another round of shots but survived. and we can start feeding her rice cereal whenever we want. we did actually buy some on our grocery trip...and some of those rubber-tipped spoons, too! now we just have to find the time to introduce it! we'll probably give it a try this weekend. i'll let you know how it goes...and probably have a picture or two to show you.
nursery
we finally put thalia to sleep in her nursery on tuesday night. she had been sleeping nearly through the night before we left for panama but i didn't want to change too many things before she spent the week without us. then last week i was too busy and tired to pay attention and put her in her nursery instead of her bassinet. she has woken up at 2:30 both nights. the first time i fed her because she was crying but last night i just gave her her pacifier. i think she just doesn't know where she is yet. our monitors work great though! i was kinda afraid i wouldn't hear her. chris doesn't seem to hear her yet but he hasn't been sleeping very well lately so i think when he is asleep, he is sound asleep.
traveling babe
thalia has been doing a lot of traveling lately. we went up to see her great-grandparents just before we went to panama. what a fun day that was! here are some cute pics from that trip.
great-grandpa doesn't like holding thalia because then he can't see her funny faces!! :o)
thalia also took her first trip up to our cottage on hubbard lake. she had a lot of fun and everyone that went had a lot of fun with her. she did pretty well, though she didn't appreciate the ride home very much. but we all survived and can't wait to head back up for labor day!

family updates
i know you really only want to hear about the baby, but it is my blog and i am going to give you other updates!
aunt nikki made it (finally!) out to san diego with uncle toby. they already found a place to live within their price range which is really exciting. aunt nikki takes her Rx law exam tomorrow so we are all crossing our fingers (even though we know she is going to do awesome!) we are going to head out there for thanksgiving and spend the long weekend with them. it will be great to see them, although we will see them once or twice before then.
mahoney is crossing their fingers that they get a new management team next week. after a ridiculous six months, they have split from their original management company and are going to have a conference call with a new group next week. hopefully they can get into the studio in august and get the ball rolling again on getting a record deal. we are also hoping that the labels that were interested a few months ago are still interested.
well i think that is it. sorry if i missed anything. my next update won't take me nearly as long, i promise. and check out the pics from panama on the right if you haven't already. the trip wasn't what we expected, but it was nice to get away and panama is a fascinating country! take care!
