The BIG One!

I know, I know. You are dying for an update! Well, here it is. And let me tell you...it has been a crazy whirlwind since we went on our trip. Being gone for a week was hard enough! Then I came back to a four day work week that needed to include a day for new product training and a training presentation at a sales meeting! Not to mention getting packed to head up north! Yikes. My poor family - we had no food, no clean clothes! But things are starting to turn around and we did make it to the grocery store - more on that to come - and I did start to make a dent in the laundry situation. So now, on with the updates...


thalia updates
four month checkup

yes, you read that correctly. thalia is four months old! i can't believe it. but she definitely looks four months old. her four month hippo picture will be up shortly (hopefully before she turns 5 months!) so i had (another!) sales meeting on monday so chris took the baby to her appointment all by himself. thalia weighs just over 13lbs (50th percentile) and i am not sure how long she is but her length is in the 90th percentile for babies her age! i think that is super funny! although, she has always had a long torso because her onesies were always kinda short on her. anyway, she got another round of shots but survived. and we can start feeding her rice cereal whenever we want. we did actually buy some on our grocery trip...and some of those rubber-tipped spoons, too! now we just have to find the time to introduce it! we'll probably give it a try this weekend. i'll let you know how it goes...and probably have a picture or two to show you.

nursery
we finally put thalia to sleep in her nursery on tuesday night. she had been sleeping nearly through the night before we left for panama but i didn't want to change too many things before she spent the week without us. then last week i was too busy and tired to pay attention and put her in her nursery instead of her bassinet. she has woken up at 2:30 both nights. the first time i fed her because she was crying but last night i just gave her her pacifier. i think she just doesn't know where she is yet. our monitors work great though! i was kinda afraid i wouldn't hear her. chris doesn't seem to hear her yet but he hasn't been sleeping very well lately so i think when he is asleep, he is sound asleep.


traveling babe
thalia has been doing a lot of traveling lately. we went up to see her great-grandparents just before we went to panama. what a fun day that was! here are some cute pics from that trip.








great-grandpa doesn't like holding thalia because then he can't see her funny faces!! :o)


thalia also took her first trip up to our cottage on hubbard lake. she had a lot of fun and everyone that went had a lot of fun with her. she did pretty well, though she didn't appreciate the ride home very much. but we all survived and can't wait to head back up for labor day!
(the boat was in the hoist...relax!)

family updates
i know you really only want to hear about the baby, but it is my blog and i am going to give you other updates!
aunt nikki made it (finally!) out to san diego with uncle toby. they already found a place to live within their price range which is really exciting. aunt nikki takes her Rx law exam tomorrow so we are all crossing our fingers (even though we know she is going to do awesome!) we are going to head out there for thanksgiving and spend the long weekend with them. it will be great to see them, although we will see them once or twice before then.
mahoney is crossing their fingers that they get a new management team next week. after a ridiculous six months, they have split from their original management company and are going to have a conference call with a new group next week. hopefully they can get into the studio in august and get the ball rolling again on getting a record deal. we are also hoping that the labels that were interested a few months ago are still interested.

well i think that is it. sorry if i missed anything. my next update won't take me nearly as long, i promise. and check out the pics from panama on the right if you haven't already. the trip wasn't what we expected, but it was nice to get away and panama is a fascinating country! take care!

we're back!

just a quick update to let you know that chris and i made it back from panama safe and sound and even though it took a little while, thalia DID remember who we were. yiayia had a great time babysitting...it was hard for everyone to say goodbye today. pictures of our trip (if you care) and more of thalia with her great-grandparents to come soon.

quick update

hello! i hope you are having a good week. i am not going to lie...this week has been tough for me. but the silver lining is that at the end of it, chris and i get to take a vacation to panama! i am getting more and more excited about the trip. and yiayia is getting more and more excited about coming to watch thalia while we are gone. perhaps i will give her my log-in information and she can share a little of her adventures next week! we shall see.

anyway, thalia is growing and changing and learning every day. she is strong enough to spend some time in her exersaucer yes, she is sitting in it backwards but the back is higher than the front so it gives her a little more support. she loves grabbing at the toys.

thalia is also improving her aiming skills. she loves pulling her pacifier out. usually she gets upset and we have to grab it. but the past few days she has been able to get it back in her mouth if she hangs on to it. it takes a couple tries but i'm impressed!

she has really been laughing a lot lately too. i will have to see if i can get it on video. it is the funniest thing. yesterday when i left for work she was just squealing with delight at herself. i was cracking up. it was definitely hard to leave!

we went and visited chris' great-grandma a couple weeks ago. her health has been declining a bit recently but she is nearly 100 years old! she had a lot of fun with the baby though. this is grandma donna first introducing thalia to her great-great-grandma. this is 5 generations of chris' dad's side of the family.

thalia is still sleeping through the night for the most part. the past couple nights she has fussed a bit around 4am but i just give her her pacifier and she will sleep until 6. i am trying to stay awake after i feed her and workout on our new elliptical. i did it this morning...man am i out of shape. i guess that is what happens after not working out for an entire year! i'll build my endurance back up though.

other than that, we are just playing a lot and trying to spend time with aunt nikki since she is headed off to san diego after we get back from panama. thank goodness for webcams! (and already planned family vacations!)

Pictures Galore!

This was a long week for me...it was my first five day work week since i started back (chalk that up to weddings, a work trip to chicago, and the holiday). i am exhausted...but you are so important to me that i am here bringing you some of the cutest pictures so far. i know i am a little biased, but seriously...is she the cutest baby ever? how can you get cuter than this?! have a great weekend!!

Big Update

Memorial Weekend Trip
Whew! May is finally over! What a crazy busy month! We had a lot of fun though!! As I hinted to, I took Thalia on her first plane ride to go see yiayia and papou for memorial weekend. She did totally awesome on the planes! We only had a 20 minute layover on the way there which gave me just enough time to find the gate and change the baby’s diaper while she screamed because she was hungry. I looked ridiculous trying to feed her and carry her, her blanket, the front-carrier, the diaper bag, and her burp cloth! But we made it! Yiayia and papou had a wonderful time showing Thalia off to all of their friends. They just ate her up! Thalia saw her first hot air balloons and made her first trip to Sonic! We also went to Santa Fe and checked out all the super fancy art galleries on Canyon Road. Yiayia said she likes going there because she isn’t tempted to buy anything…could have something to do with the fact that the cheapest piece I saw was $2600!!! But there were some cool (and some bizarre) works of art there. We also got Thalia’s three month pictures taken when we were out there. They don’t come in until the middle of June, so yiayia is going to bring them with her when she comes out so we can go to Panama. So if you want one, be sure to let us or her know and we can bring them by!

The way home got a little hairy when I found out we had to make a stop in Denver that I didn’t know about. But Thalia slept through the whole thing and we made it to Chicago fine. And everything was going fine…I even got to eat something! Then as we were in line to board the plane, I put my hand on Thalia’s leg and it was all sticky. Yep…Chris’ daughter had pooped while in the front carrier and the poop traveled out of the diaper and down her leg! So I jump out of line to change her, which required a near full wardrobe change (thank God my diaper bag had a plastic zippered pouch for nasty clothes!) and of course there weren’t many people on the plane, so it boarded in like 5 minutes! The lady at the gate made an announcement that everyone headed to Detroit should be on board the plane and I was definitely still changing the baby! So once again I scoop everything up and run to make it on time. But everyone on all the planes was really nice and super helpful! And the only time Thalia cried was after the two longer flights and that was only because she was hungry! In fact, an older gentleman told me he gets that way (fussy) when he is hungry too! Overall, it was a great, and much needed, trip!! Thanks yiayia and papou!!

Other Milestones
Thalia has really been expanding her horizons and abilities lately! Aside from her first plane rides and seeing her first hot air balloon and Sonic, Thalia has really been honing her grasping skills! She can hold on to almost anything…fingers, stuffed animals, drug pens! She is getting so strong and can hold her head and shoulders up when you lay her on her belly. She holds her head up when you pull her up from laying down. She started rubbing her eyes over this past weekend…it was so cute! And the biggest accomplishment happened today…I told Chris we should practice rolling over. Thalia can roll onto her side if she is on her back, but I recently read that babies can roll from their belly to back before they can do it the other way. So I laid a blanket on the floor and put her on her belly. And wouldn’t you know it, less than a minute later, SHE DID IT!!! I think she scared herself that first time because her eyes got really big. So we cheered and clapped and the baby laughed and we put her back on her belly to see if she could do it again…and she did!!! That time she looked like a pro though. Chris was able to record it on his phone and we are working with yiayia to get it online so you can all see it! That and more pictures to come very soon.
